Hello neighbors, Sarita Wynder here!
I know how it goes. You look at the calendar, and suddenly the holidays aren’t approaching—they’re here. Between the gift wrapping, the last-minute shopping, and the menu planning, that deep clean you intended to do just… didn’t happen. And now, you have guests arriving in 24 hours.
First, take a deep breath. I’m the owner of Saturday Morning Cleaning Company, and I’ve built my business on the belief that your time is precious. You deserve to enjoy the season, not spend it stressed out with a scrub brush.
Your home doesn’t need to be perfect; it just needs to be welcoming. Here is my “company’s coming!” game plan to get your home guest-ready in a flash.
1. The 10-Minute Tidy: Focus on Surfaces Don’t try to deep-clean. Grab a laundry basket and do a quick sweep of your main entertaining areas—the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Pick up anything that doesn’t belong: mail, shoes, toys, clutter. Stash the basket in a bedroom and close the door. Now, wipe down all the high-impact flat surfaces: coffee table, countertops, and the dining table.
2. Hit the “Guest Essentials”: Bathroom & Kitchen This is where you’ll get the most bang for your buck. In the bathroom, give the toilet a quick scrub, wipe the mirror and counters, and put out fresh hand towels and a new bar of soap. In the kitchen, make sure the sink is empty and shiny. Load the dishwasher and wipe down the front of your appliances. A clean kitchen and a fresh bathroom make the whole house feel cleaner.
3. Set the Mood This is my favorite trick. You can bypass a lot of cleaning imperfections with good “scent and light.” Dim the overhead lights and use lamps for a warmer glow. Light a holiday-scented candle or simmer a small pot of water with cinnamon sticks and orange peels on the stove. A welcoming aroma and soft lighting create an instant feeling of warmth and comfort.
Remember, the holidays are about connection, not inspection. Your friends and family are coming to see you, not to check for dust.
From all of us at Saturday Morning Cleaning, we wish you a wonderful and stress-free holiday.
