When Is Best Time To Fold Clothes?

The question I’m often asked is, “What’s the best time to fold clothes?” The answer is simple and absolute: the moment they come out of the dryer.

While it’s tempting to leave a warm pile of clothes in the basket for later, folding them immediately is the single most effective way to prevent deep-set wrinkles. The secret lies in the residual heat and moisture from the dryer. When the fabric is warm, it is pliable and easily smoothed. Folding items while they’re in this state essentially presses them for you, drastically reducing—or even eliminating—the need for ironing.

Think of your warm dryer as a free, wrinkle-releasing tool. By taking five minutes to fold a load as soon as it’s done, you save yourself from the dreaded “laundry mountain” and the much longer task of ironing later on.

For the best results, give each item a quick, sharp shake as you take it out to release any tangles before immediately folding it on a clean, flat surface. It’s a small habit that makes a significant difference in maintaining order and ensuring your clothes are always ready to wear.

Wishing you a relaxing and wonderful weekend,
